Introduction
FlexiNote (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome Extension collects, uses, and protects your information. FlexiNote is designed to be a local-first productivity tool, meaning your data primarily lives on your device.
Data Collection and Usage
In order to provide the core functionality of sticky notes on webpages, FlexiNote accesses specific data points. Here is how we use them:
1. Web History (URLs)
- What we access: The URL of the webpage you are currently visiting.
- Why: To display the correct notes associated with that specific page and to allow you to filter notes by “Current Page” in the dashboard.
- Storage: This URL data is associated with the notes you create and stored locally in your browser’s
chrome.storage. We do not transmit this browsing history to any external servers or analytics platforms.
2. User Activity (Mouse Interactions)
- What we access: Mouse cursor coordinates and click events.
- Why: To determine where to place a new note when you select “Add note here” from the context menu, or to handle drag-and-drop positioning of notes.
- Storage: The final x/y coordinates of your notes are stored locally to persist their position. Your interaction patterns are not tracked or analyzed.
3. Website Content (Page Titles)
- What we access: The title of the webpage (document title or
<h1>tag). - Why: To automatically populate the title of a new note when using the “Quick Add note page” feature, making it easier for you to reference later.
- Storage: This text becomes part of your note content and is stored locally.
Data Storage
- Local Storage: All data generated by FlexiNote (notes, categories, settings) is stored locally on your device using the Chrome Storage API (
chrome.storage.local). - No External Database: We do not maintain a cloud database. Your notes do not leave your browser instance unless you manually export them (functionality dependent on version).
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable information or browsing data to outside parties.
